War Room Prayer Journey:Strength to Kick Satan Out ….

DAY 17 – February 26th – Strengths: Search Me Lord (  Days 17-20 of the 40 Day Prayer Journey)

search-me

Scriptures:   2 Corinthians 12:9–10; Psalm 81:8

How has your personal prayer journey been during this Lenten Season so far since we started on February 10, Ash Wednesday? I pray that you are indeed listening to the Lord, studying the Word and seeking God in prayer and fasting. Keep pressing toward the mark even if it may be a little challenging. Again keep pressing on the 40 Day “War Room Journey: Praying, Listening to the Lord And Living the Life”.  1 Timothy 2:1-4; Philippians 4:6-7; Deuteronomy 30:20; Galatians 2:20, from February 10, 2016 through March 26, 2016. If you want to see prior post go to https://www.ladyofprayer.com

The season of Lent should be a time of intense discipline and devotion. Obviously the word discipline is close to the word disciple. We are disciples or followers of Christ. We become like Christ through disciplines such as Bible Study, prayer, and ministry. Oh by the way, do you have your journal, Bible and a listening ear on this journey?

Every strategy includes identifying your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT). It helps you to take a critical and complete look at what you have and what is needed for success (victory) to occur. God is your strength, and He has given you many talents, gifts, resources, and opportunities. Write down these strengths. Ask at least three people who know you well to tell you what they have seen and experienced as your strengths. Write down their responses and keep them/post them with your list.

Be honest about your weaknesses; pray and seek guidance from God and others when needed. Pray for opportunities to use but not abuse your training. Never manipulate people or projects; that is Satan’s game and gain. Know your threats—recognize the real enemy, temptations, and tricks you tend to fall for. Fortify your offense and defense in your War Room. We will continue to build on each of these points throughout this battle plan (2 Corinthians 12:9–10).*(Kathy Branzell)

Pray:

  • For you to be obedient to the call to be a witness to others on your job, at the store and everywhere and to know what is your individual mandate.
  • Pray that family members and church members will have a strong and growing love for God and for others.
  • Pray that the church would walk in love for one another without hypocrisy and out of a pure heart.
  • Pray that the love of Christ will permeate you , believers in Christ and all churches so that the world would see and believe that God loves them and sent His Son so that they might have everlasting life and live in His love through salvation.
  • Pray that God will forgive us, as a nation for the mistreatment of Native Americans and other ethnic groups; for God’s fullest blessing upon their families and lands, that the tribes will find their healing justice and highest dignity as a people in Christ; that the gospel is proclaimed with love to them.

DAY 18 – February 27th – Don’t Complain: Praise and Pray.

Scriptures: 2 Timothy 2:22–26; 2 Chronicles 20:15

Miss Clara points out to Elizabeth that Satan is the enemy, not her husband—and that all of her complaining brings curses and not blessing or healing to her marriage. Complaining is the praise music of hell. Satan loves to hear us gripe and grumble.

On the other hand, Satan hates to hear us pray. He can deceive, distract, and discourage us all he wants until we turn to God to fight for us—and then Satan is defeated! God has no tolerance for complaining; it does not express faith.

If you want to fight the good fight, it is time to turn our eyes on Jesus and profess our faith in Him. Praise expresses the awe-inducing, unchanging, mighty attributes of God. As we profess that He is Almighty, we perceive that our problems are not big and bad after all.

Write down some attributes of God from Scripture and pray them to remind yourself and the enemy that God is stronger and sovereign. Write down blessings to pray over the people connected to your prayer strategy. Remember, asking God to reveal anything they are doing in deceit is a blessing as long as you pray repentance and redemption over them as well (2 Timothy 2:22–26).*(Kathy Branzell)

Bible study and prayer are essential to the life of every Christian. Intentionally read and study the scriptures and listen to God’s words. Fill your mind and soul with His stories and His truths. Spend more time in prayer. Learn to pray on your knees or prostrate on the floor. Confess your sins. Ask God to reveal to you areas of your life that need His transformation. Commit to deeper Bible study and times of prayer.

This is a time to repent, recall, refresh and renew our commitment to communing with Christ, talking to him but also listening to hear what He has to say to each of us individually and corporately. Stay on the War Room Prayer Journey–you will be blessed!

Pray:

  • Pray for those who are blinded by sin that the scales will be removed from their eyes, ears and their minds are illumined with the gospel. Pray for unbelievers to accept Jesus Christ as Savior.
  • Pray that you and members of your church and believers everywhere would praise the Lord with their whole heart and grow in personal and corporate prayer.
  • Pray for the Lord to add to the church daily those who are being saved. (Acts 2:4)
  • Pray for opportunities for you and other believers to witness and invite people to the Lord and/or to the church. Colossians 4:2-4.
  • Pray for college students.

DAY 19 – February 28th – Kick Satan Out of Your House

eliz maxresdefault

Scriptures: Romans 4; Proverbs 18:13

Elizabeth ( from the War Room) realizes that she needs to kick Satan out of her house. She quotes James 4:7, “Submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee.” It is a procedure with a promise. Jesus quoted Scripture against Satan’s temptations in the wilderness and Satan’s schemes were unsuccessful.

What tricks, threats, or treats has Satan used to tempt you? Ask God to forgive you if you have followed the tempter or even fallen into a pit of sin and destruction. Ask God to lift you up and set you firmly back on His path for His glory. Choose and write down verses you will use to deflect and defeat the devil next time he comes prowling around your life (Romans 4).*(Kathy Branzell)

Pray:

  • Pray that you will grow in the knowledge of God’s Word for every aspect of your life.
  • Pray that the Father gives you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. Ephesians 1:17
  • Pray that parents will study the Word, come to Sunday School and began to talk to their children about the Word of God every day.
  • Seek God for the sick: There are many names on our sick list – Please pray for each name on that list and focus on three in particular for the rest of the week.
  • Pray for persons with mental illness, who are suicidal and/or depressed.

DAY 20 – February 29 Distractions

Scriptures: 1 Peter 5:6–9; Proverbs 18:13

Satan does not give up. Even in Jesus’ ministry after the three temptations in the wilderness, Satan continued to use demons and other people to be a distraction or disruption—or even try to detour Jesus from God’s plan by the people’s desire to make Jesus their earthly King. Jesus as an earthly king sounds like a good idea that could yield some good, temporary benefits to the Jews in the first century; yet God’s plan was best—the eternal defeat of sin and death and redemption of the created with their Creator for all eternity.

Write down ways that you have been detoured or distracted into settling for “good” instead of God’s best. Pray for God to show you areas of your life that you need to release in order to have open hands (and time) to receive what He wants to give you and where He wants to grow you (1 Peter 5:6–9).*

Pray:

  • Pray that the Father heals ________ by the power of the Word. Thank the Lord for sending Jesus to bear our sins in His body so that by His wounds ___might be healed. (Psalm 107:20; 1 Peter 2:24).
  • Pray for persons who are mentally ill, depressed or suicidal for deliverance, healing and sound minds that recognize the voice of Jesus.
  • Pray that God will provide for the financial resources to meet the financial needs of the sick.
  • Pray for the caregivers of the sick and shut in.
  • Pray for outreach ministries.

40 Day War Room Prayer Journey

believe in the power 1513888_10151786371577283_307625861_n Many Christians began preparing their hearts and minds for Resurrection Sunday better known as Easter through the season of Lent on February 10 Ash Wednesday. Although it is February 20, I look forward to you and your family joining me, my friends , family and my church family in participating in our 40 Day Prayer Journey, “ War Room Journey: Praying, Listening to the Lord And Living the Life”.  1 Timothy 2:1-4; Philippians 4:6-7; Deuteronomy 30:20; Galatians 2:20, from February 10, 2016 through March 26, 2016. You can go to https://www.ladyofprayer.com to see Day 1 though Day 12

Step into this forty (40) day prayer journey of repenting and praying toward the desires and promises of God to enable us to grow in our spiritual walk. Let each of us as individuals and as a corporate body grow in grace, in service and deed, in love for God and each other and into a lifestyle of individual and corporate prayer.

It is a time to repent, recall, refresh and renew our commitment to communing with Christ, talking to him but also listening to hear what He has to say to each of us individually and corporately. God wants a personal love relationship with you—with us. A relationship involves a two way conversation. Prayer is a dialogue not a monologue. God is not silent. He speaks to us through His Word and in other ways. Jesus was a listener. He said “Whatever I say is what the Father has told me to say” (John 12:50). Like Jesus, we must listen. God is longing for us to pay attention. Let’s all stop and listen.

Hopefully you had the wonderful opportunity to watch the movie “War Room”. God wants us to become effective prayer intercessors and warriors to carry out His Kingdom purpose. We will be praying and study the war room strategies addressed in the movie. Days 8 though 36 will address effective prayer based on an article by Kathy Branzell entitled “War Room: A Thirty-Day Boot Camp Response, 2015”[1]

The effectual fervent prayer of the righteous availeth much. James 5:16

Why not ask a loved one to join you on this prayer journey? Let’s all continue with one accord in prayer and supplication (Acts 1:14a) during this Lenten season.

Suggested Logistics

What follows is a suggested format for the journey. You may need to modify it to fit your schedule or medical restrictions. You are encouraged to use a journal or notebook to write your reflections, what the Lord is speaking to you when you stop to listen, your prayers and/or prayer requests.

During the Forty Day Prayer Journey it is suggested that you:

  1. Fast at least one day per week preferably Wednesday . Alternatively, you can fast a food or activity the entire Lenten season.
  2. Select a Prayer Partner or two (Triplett) to pray together at least once a week as you determine for your schedule.
  3. Daily read the devotion if any, and read the scriptures. Meditate on the Word each day. Answer the questions in your journal if there are any for that day and write down your reflections. If there is a blank line contained within a day’s activities fill in what applies to you.
  4. Make an entry in your journal each day or as led by the Holy Spirit. Make sure you take time to listen. Complete the exercises if there are any.
  5. Make a commitment to attend Bible Study and The Prayer Gathering or Prayer Meeting at your church or a church. Or join an online prayer group such at 5am Monday- Friday Global Missions Prayer Force or Girlfriends Pray at 7am and 10pm Monday- Friday. Both can be found on facebook.

If you missed Day 1 through 14 go to www.ladyofprayer.com Join us there every day for the remainder of the 40 Day Prayer Journey.

DAY 12 – February 21st – How Is Your Prayer Life?

Scripture: Isaiah 55; Proverbs 1:5

In a recent interview Stephen Kendrick said, “Prayer is so much more than people realize. It can powerfully affect every problem and need in our lives if engaged from within a vibrant relationship with God.”

So how “vibrant” is your relationship with God? Write down some adjectives, characteristics, and evidences that describe your current relationship with Jesus. Describe your daily interaction and affection toward Him. How many times do you think about Him during the day? How often do you talk with Him, thank Him, or give Him credit for something good or beautiful? Is prayer your first response or your last resort?

One of the biggest mistakes made in prayer is that we make it about us. We think that we only need to talk to God when we need something. But that is not how any successful relationship communicates. If your write your spouse a love note, or a friend a thank-you note, you do not fill it with ways they can make your life better and easier. You thank them for all they have done and the meaning that they have already brought to your life.

Love expresses and affirms affection without attaching a required expectation at the end of the sentence. We do not say, “You bring so much joy to my life, so give me $50.” Practice praying throughout your day; a sentence here, a thought there that just tells God how much you love and appreciate Him. Practice making your requests in the mindset of His will, so He receives glory and His Kingdom is impacted.

A happy marriage glorifies God, so does an addict who recovers, a prodigal who repents and comes home, a bill that gets paid, a church that is filled with people who have a heart for prayer, worship and service, etc. Abiding in Him teaches us to value what He values, not the other way around. Write down ways to praise and thank Him as you see Him move in your requests, and in your relationship (Isa. 55).*

Pray:

  • Ask God to search your heart and life and to reveal to you any sin you may need to deal with.
  • Pray a prayer of praise and thanksgiving.
  • Ask God for spiritual blessings, for ministry opportunities and empowerment for service.
  • Pray that the gospel may reach the unsaved, unchurched and those hurt by church “folk” such that they may be saved and their hearts and minds are renewed.
  • Ethnic Communities: Psalm 22:27 – that God would bring racial harmony; that long standing offenses may be healed by the forgiveness which begins in Jesus; that Christians show honor and act in Christ’s reconciling power; that many churches would demonstrate the redemptive purpose of God in the beauty of the distinctive languages and cultures.
  • Pray for President Obama and his family.
